Puntagorda

The community of Puntagorda is an idyllic town 31 km sq. in size, with various hills stretching far to the northwest. It has 1800 inhabitants, of which about 10 % are foreigners.
The small town is located about 600 m above sea level, embedded in a hilly green landscape.

The landscape is most impressive during the almond budding season in late January/early February.

The large festival “Fiesta del Almendro” takes place annually and is the region’s main event.

Sightseeing:

Iglesia de San Mauro Abad: This church, with its Baroque bell tower reconstructed in 1811, is located somewhat on the outskirts in the middle of the beautiful landscape.

Mercadillo: Farmers offer fruit, vegetables and homemade goods, and artisans their handcrafts for sale in this large, newly built market hall in the district of El Fayal.
Opening hours: Sat 15:00-19:00, Sun 11:00-15:00.

Mirador de los Matos: This lookout point lies north of Puntagorda and offers a beautiful view of the steep coast.
